Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
What you will find here is information about my training and experience, therapeutic orientation, and practice. My goal is to give you a sense of who I am, what kinds of problems I help people address, and how I work. This information can help you determine if we might make a good team in reaching your goals.
As an experienced counselor who has provided psychotherapy services for over 20 years, I have found that people enter counseling for a variety of reasons. Some people come to counseling needing brief and practical help to deal with current stresses that have temporarily overwhelmed their ability to cope. Others come to counseling for longer term healing from abuse and/or recovery from use of damaging coping strategies. At times, the problem is feeling so depressed or anxious that life is not enjoyable. All of these and many others are good reasons to seek counseling.
Often, entering counseling is not an easy choice and some people even think of it as indicating weakness. On the contrary, my years of work in this field have impressed upon me the courage it takes to investigate what does and does not work in one's life. I have never had a client who did not have strengths to build on, though I have worked with many who had lost sight of their abilities and positive traits. A vital aspect of the work I do is helping clients to identify and reconnect with their strengths in a way that opens the door to meeting their needs.
